They are heavy on late 19th century militia men and martial musicians of the early 20th century. Some of the subjects shown are: a New Hampshire militia officer circa 1875; men of the Washington Rifles of Patterson, New Jersey circa 1875; the Orange (New Jersey) Fife & Drum Corps circa 1885; a musician 1st sergeant of the New Jersey National Guard circa 1885; men of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania's State Fencibles circa 1885; Spanish American War group photo and stereo views; the 1909 inauguration parade of William H. Taft; Army bands circa 1914, 1918, and 1920; the portrait of a uniformed European boy circa 1885.
